Life With the Finch Family: Baby Blessing

We got Noah blessed on June 9th. It wasn't Fast Sunday because we waited too long to plan so we just did it the following week instead of waiting until July. It was really special. Derek has a big family and just about all of his family lives here in Salt Lake, so there were a lot of people that came. We had a BBQ afterwards at the Riverside Park, just across the street from our house.

Funny story.. the week before the blessing I asked Derek if he thought we needed to reserve the gazebo at the park. We weren't sure if you were even able to reserve them. He said he would look into it. A few days later I asked him if he had looked into it yet and he said he was doing it that day. He didn't, and said he will for sure do it the next day. It was a few days before the blessing and I asked him again.. he didn't. He said that we should be fine and he didn't think we needed to reserve it.

The BBQ was going really good until a few people came over to the gazebo and talked to Derek. He came over to me and said "Hey babe, you're going to be really mad at me..." They had reserved that gazebo for 3:00 pm. It was almost 3:00. Derek went and talked to them again and asked if we could just finish up and it wouldn't be too long. Luckily they were really nice and said that was fine and their party wasn't even there yet. So it ended up working out anyways. But I could have killed! Haha just kidding, he's really busy and works really hard every day. I should have just done it myself instead of nagging him about it.

Derek's boss, Wayne and his wife, Vickie came to the blessing and at the time we didn't know but Vickie actually recorded it. She said she was going to type it up for us and that she did that for all her kids so she wanted to do it for us too. How thoughtful! It will be nice to have those special blessings for Noah to look back on.
